I am a registered dietitian and certified sports nutritionist specializing in behavior change, meal planning, weight loss/management, disordered eating and mind-body awareness.
Anxiety and depression affect our eating behaviors and patterns, which often times leads to weight gain or loss and malnutrition. In turn, malnutrition has a significant effect on our mental state and is likely to increase symptoms of anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and many other mental health states. This is why I believe that it’s very hard to achieve physical, emotional and mental wellness when our bodies are not properly nourished.
I have a passion for helping children, adolescents and adults achieve body satisfaction, weight management and simply enhanced health. In order to do this, I believe it is important to reconnect the mind to the body while forming and establishing a healthy relationship with food and eating.
I believe that our eating patterns give us clues about ourselves, and these clues become useful pieces of information that we will use to ultimately improve overall physical and mental health. I will help you understand your own eating behaviors and also establish new eating behaviors that will lead you to a place where you can eat freely and be at peace with yourself while meeting your own, unique goals.
I use an individualized, non-diet approach with the focus that all foods fit into a healthy lifestyle. Your nutritional plan will be based on your goals, your needs, and your body without judgment.
I work in collaboration with Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) Monica Bezzi Demas and associate therapists at First Step Counseling to create a balance between mind and body to instill a healthy relationship with food.
